Pumpkin pie is a classic dessert, especially popular during the fall and Thanksgiving season. Here's a simple recipe for a traditional pumpkin pie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups canned pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (as needed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2-3 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups evaporated milk or sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F.

  2. Prepare the pie crust: Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish .

  3. Mix the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Mix well.

  4. Add eggs: Beat the eggs slightly and then add them to the pumpkin mixture. Mix until well combined.

  5. Add milk: Gradually stir in the evaporated milk or sweetened condensed milk until the mixture is smooth.

  6. Pour into pie crust: Pour the pumpkin mixture into the unbaked pie crust.

  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 - 20 minutes. Then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and continue baking for an additional 40-50 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Cool and serve: Allow the pie to cool completely before serving. You can serve it at room temperature or chilled with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
